If you are never able to make bad decisions, you will not ever learn. There are people that definitely learn from their mistakes and then there are ones that do not ever do at all... and then again there are some that it may take a few times around for them to learn. I read somewhere that you should never regret something said because it was what you were thinking at the time. If you stick up for yourself, either people take it and respect you or they think of you as a total ass or bitch - to be honest.

This saying is nothing but true - it can also be rephrased as once you've been to hell you don't want to go back. Once you have been put through enough, you know what will really make you happy. Once you are in that state though, I've found you have to be careful - there are people who totally understand and then there are ones that take advantage of that and try to bring you back down to where you were... maybe not intentionally but it's how it happens. Being happy with how things are going no matter what, is the main goal and again, you can not truly be happy until you can tell the difference between that and being sad.

This could go for a lot of things, I believe. For relationships, problems, attitudes towards obstacles in life. Even though you may have a rough attitude towards whatever, within time and the right people around you, the attitude could be better. A lot of people say time heals a lot of wounds, which is true, but time isn't the only thing that heals the pain.

If work takes over your life, then you will have no time for 'play'. If you want to 'play' then it becomes exhausting and will get the best of you eventually. Work can be fun, but it is still work. Everyone needs time to themselves to relax and do what they want to, just to even get away if needed.

Not really sure what this one means... makes you think what the real meaning behind it is.

I think this is true - what I think this means is if you are suffering from something and other people know and try to help you, you block that out and then end up just being deaf to everything. I can relate to this with many situations... I know that I learn best through my mistakes and when someone tries to tell me something, I am sometimes too stubborn to hear it.
